Job description

Regional Chief Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction

Full-Time, In-Office | Pay Range : $200K – $250K

We are seeking an experienced Regional Chief Estimator to join a leading heavy civil contractor based in Irvine, CA. This role is perfect for a senior-level estimator with a strong background in self-performed work and Caltrans bidding .

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the full estimating process for heavy civil projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and cost data to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Utilize HCSS HeavyBid (required) and related software for project costing.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids and vendor pricing.
  • Provide value engineering options and cost-saving strategies.
  • Support the preconstruction team with scheduling and constructability reviews.
  • Mentor and coordinate estimating staff to ensure high-quality deliverables.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience with a proven track record.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and local industry practices.
  • Prior experience with a contractor who self-performs work (60% or more).
  • HCSS HeavyBid expertise required; P6 scheduling a plus.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
