Staff Accountant / Auditor Position
As a Staff Accountant / Auditor at Kiewit, you will be primarily responsible for key accounting, audit, and reporting-related roles within the department. You will be a key member in evolving accounting and audit departments function focused on supporting operational and financial decision-makers.

This position is based in Omaha, NE on-site five days a week. This is a shared service environment in a professional office setting.
Responsibilities
Audit :
- Perform financial, operational, compliance, and strategic audits
- Review and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls
- Gather and prepare audit documentation to support conclusions reached
- Collect and analyze data to detect non-compliance with laws, regulations and management policies
- Draft reports related to audit results and recommend changes in financial, operational, compliance, or strategic activities and present to audit leadership
- Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures
- Examine whether the organization's objectives are reflected in its management activities and whether employees understand the objectives
- Utilize automated workpaper software and other automated audit technology
- Keep informed of pending industry changes, trends, best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes
Accounting :
Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports for accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standardsAssist in various project and financial accounting tasks as part of the quarterly and year-end close processesAssist project and financial accounting managers with other accounting-related matters, ad hoc requests, and special projectsReview work of other accountants in the departmentSupport internal and external auditors as neededCollaborate with other home office and district departments as necessaryPrepare footnotes for parent and subsidiary financial statementsQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceGPA of 3.0 or higherUnderstanding of U.S. GAAP, U.S. GAAS, and controls frameworkStrong communication skills and ability to communicate with business partners at all levels of managementCritical thinking skills and the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsAbility to work effectively in a group environmentAbility to quickly grasp new ideas and processesOther Requirements :
