Health & Safety Supervisor – Tobaccoville, NC
Schedule: Thursday–Sunday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay: Up to $40/hour

The Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and administering comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role supports a safe, compliant, and sustainable work environment within a highly regulated manufacturing and processing operation. The EHS Manager serves as a key advisor to leadership and employees on risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily oversight of contractor activities, particularly related to demolition and construction of equipment/machinery.
- Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, site requirements, and company safety policies.
- Manage and maintain the Permit to Work process, including hazardous work permits.
- Monitor contractor tasks to ensure all activities are executed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Build rapport and maintain strong, professional relationships with contractors to support a safe working environment for all employees.
- Facilitate health and safety communication, including toolbox talks, pre-task meetings, and operational safety updates.
- Support and oversee incident reporting, near-miss documentation, and follow-up actions.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, internal reporting processes, and documentation standards.
- Participate in routine safety meetings, audits, and inspections as needed.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations
- Maintain site readiness for regulatory inspections and audits
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors
- Interpret regulatory changes and implement compliant policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- OSHA 30-Hour and/or OSHA 500 required.
- Experience in both construction and manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage contractor safety and enforce regulatory standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safe behavior.
- Solid understanding of EHS policies, risk management, and incident investigation processes.
