The Engineering Services Technician provides technical assistance to project engineers with design, build-up, assembly, instrumentation, and test execution of customer qualification programs, internal research and development (R&D) efforts and experimental evaluation of advanced technology.

Essential Responsibilities

The Metcut Research Corporation is responsible for providing customer data for both Research and Development and Qualification runoff programs. These tasks along with experimental evaluation of materials and their performance are completed in support of numerous industries including Aerospace, Land Transportation, Oil and Gas and many others.

There are 4 primary test types performed in the Metcut Research Inc. Testing Labs (additional functions include friction and wear testing, dynamic modulus and torsion testing) :

• Fatigue Testing – Low and High Cycle fatigue testing measuring longitudinal strain and load control properties utilizing servo-hydraulic and rotating mass test frames
• Fatigue Crack Growth and Fracture Mechanics Testing – FCG is performed using the compliance method and the potential drop method of crack measurement per ASTM E-647, while Fracture toughness is performed to methods ASTM E-399, ASTM E-1820, ASTM E-1457, ASTM E-561 and ASTM E-1304.
• Tensile Testing – Metcut conducts tensile, compression and flexural tests utilizing Electro-Mechanical Test frames.
• Creep and Stress Rupture – Metcut utilizes over 140 static test frames with varying load capabilities up to 30,000 lbs.

In the role of Technician, you will be responsible to work with engineers in component test evaluation efforts with core responsibilities to include :
