Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) - Travel Position
Location : Rapid City, SD
Job Type : Travel Contract
Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : 3x12s Nights
Pay : $2437 / week
Job Description :
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN to deliver exceptional care to patients requiring intermediate-level support and advanced clinical interventions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, particularly in progressive and critical care settings. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. The Progressive Care Nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes, utilizing advanced clinical skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities :
Assess and monitor patients’ conditions, including vital signs and overall health status.
Care for patients with various diagnoses, including but not limited to : DKA requiring insulin drips, pre / post-surgical care, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure (with or without hemodialysis), hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, soft tissue injury, minor fractures, DVTs, and possible CVA overflow.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and ongoing health management.
Perform advanced nursing procedures such as IV infusions, suturing, catheterization, and airway management.
Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Participate in discharge planning and case management to ensure continuity of care.
Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care standards.
Qualifications :
Active RN license in SD
Epic charting
1 year of experience
First time travelers must have EPIC experience
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
100 mile radius rule in place
Ability to work EOW
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation
Experience in acute pain management, infection control, and medication administration
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
Be willing to float to Med Surg, MS / Tele, Long Length, and ONS if needed
Experience preferred with the following Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives
