Travel Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Beaufort, SC 29902 (South Carolina healthcare jobs)

Unit : 5T – 22-bed Adult Med / Surg Oncology Unit

Position Type : Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract

Contract Length : 13 weeks (option to extend)

Start Date : 10 / 1 / 2025

End Date : 12 / 31 / 2025

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM), 3 shifts / week

Weekly Hours : 36

Schedule : Weekdays, every other weekend, float and holidays as needed

Patient Ratio : 5-6 : 1

EMR : Meditech

Scrubs : Royal blue / white (not provided)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active South Carolina RN license (or ability to obtain prior to start)

Minimum 2 years of recent Medical / Surgical RN experience

BCLS certification required

Proficient IV start skills

Travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travel RNs welcome

Comfortable with high patient ratios and floating to PCU or other Med / Surg units

Must reside more than 50 miles from facility (no local candidates)

Clean license and background required

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med / Surg Oncology unit

Initiate and manage IVs, perform phlebotomy, and administer blood products

Care for patients with diverse diagnoses : wounds, sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, COPD, chest pain, AKI, dialysis, oncology, and end-of-life care

Document and coordinate patient care using Meditech EMR

Float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or other Medical / Surgical units as needed

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services)

Participate in rapid response / code teams and follow isolation precautions

Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards
