Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

We're looking for passionate engineers with solid background in Gas Turbine combustion to join the LGT Combustion Module (MOD CB) team as aero designers able to perform CFD and other analysis for all combustion system developments including hydrogen and special fuels developments. As a part of the multinational and multidisciplinary team you would interface with team members globally for various interdisciplinary topics like mechanical design, thermos-acoustics. You would conceptualize aero design of combustion systems and help in validation of the same.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and execute the development of combustion aero concepts from preliminary and detailed designs.
  • Execute analyses to down-select new design solutions, to understand the impact of different design solutions on the air mixing fuel, emissions, performance, and dynamics.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred, or combined equivalent of educational / relevant work background.
  • 3+ years of industry experience. Including an understanding of thermo-acoustic behavior of combustion systems, ability to predict, analyze, and design damping systems to prevent operational instability.
  • Background in computational methods applied in combustion simulations, realizing and selecting the method and software depending on the project's time line; experience with engine performance (efficiency, emission, …) as well as details of combustion behavior (physical and numerical turbulent properties, un-mixedness, temperature fluctuations, flashback propensity); advanced combustion simulation methods, software and coding skills to be able to write customized post processing software suites.
  • Requires global travel up to 20%.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
