Hospitalist in Rural Colorado

Practice overview :  Hospital-employed position – 49-bed Level III acute care hospital.    Clinical affiliation with upstream consultation / referral source Centura for transfers requiring higher level of care.  In house general surgery, anesthesia, cardiology, ED physician.  Hospitalist can transfer patients out to a Centura 5 state network of large facilities with no barriers.  Hospitalist assists with specialty consults.  One hospitalist and one APP every day in house.  One hospitalist on at nights for admits and cross cover care. Excellent team of 4 hospitalists total and 3 APPs.  Hospital provides excellent support to physicians.

Expected patient load : 18-22 patients per day split between physician and APP - average about 3 admits daily, split between hospitalist, APP, and often medical resident.

Procedures / skills needed :   Must provide ICU care (6 bed unit with no Intensivist) - paracentesis, thoracentesis, central / art line placement, ventilator management, and intubations – ED physician, General Surgery and CRNA can assist / perform.

Radiology services – Onsite radiology 4 days per week, 24 / 7 remote tele-radiology services, limited interventional radiology available
