Position Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mechanical and electrical systems in heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a hands-on environment. Will train the right candidate with strong work ethic and basic mechanical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn mechanical parts
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand tools
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to identify and diagnose defects
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic drawings
  • Diagnose malfunctions using engine diagnostic tools and computerized test equipment
  • Adjust, repair, and maintain components including transmissions, hydraulic systems, and fuel systems
  • Repair and troubleshoot electrical systems; rewire systems when needed
  • Overhaul and test machines for operating efficiency
  • Weld or solder broken structural components using gas or electric welders
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial diesel engines and related systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to reduce equipment downtime

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, diesel technician, or similar role
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools and computerized test equipment
  • Skilled in welding, soldering, and using a variety of power and hand tools
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs
  • Valid driver's license (CDL a plus)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred
  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and detail

  • Full-time schedule; overtime and weekend work may be required based on project needs
  • Work is performed in a combination of shop and outdoor environments
  • May be exposed to noise, grease, dust, and fumes in the course of equipment repair
