Job Description

Purpose of Position :

Under the general administration of the Director of Nursing, collaborative with and is accountable to the physician for consultation and collaborative practice in the care of patients in the Breast Practice.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• The successful candidate will help coordinate a busy breast surgery practice and an integral member of the Breast Care Team
• Coordination of the breast surgery ambulatory clinic schedule Jacobi and NCB- during shared office hours with breast surgeon as well as NP supervised breast care clinic
• Diagnostic evaluation and management of patients with both benign and malignant breast disease under the supervision of a Breast Surgery Attending
• Placing breast biopsy orders, follow-up biopsy results, communicate results and subsequent recommendations with patients
• Counsel patients on preventative care such modifiable risk factors and annual screening mammography / MRI

Minimum Qualifications

1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and

2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner in area of specialty performing primary care services issued by the NYSED; and

3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
