Job Title : Cytotechnologist
Cytotechnologist - DAYS 7am-3 : 30pm\r\n\r\nEssential Duties Responsibilities (including but not limited to) : \r\n1. Screens and diagnoses, and refers to the supervisor and the pathologist, non-gynecologic and atypical gynecologic cytology smear according to established criteria.\r\n2. Assists the pathologist at fine needle aspirations in the Radiology Suite by preparing and staining slides for rapid interpretation.\r\n3. Is familiar with pathology and hospital computer systems, and all record-keeping, accessioning, and reporting tasks as defined in the procedure manual.\r\n4. Performs various methods of cytopreparation, staining, and coverslipping for all cytologic specimens and troubleshoot the same. \r\n5. Is familiar with specimen rejection policies as well as collection and transportation policies.\r\n6. Cares for and maintains equipment, particularly microscopes and work area, and reports problems with equipment to the supervisor.\r\n7. Plans own daily work by posted job rotation and daily staffing and prioritize duties to accomplish daily objectives of the Laboratory.\r\n8. Keeps the supervisor informed of activities, and refers needs, problems, and unusual cases to the supervisor.\r\n9. Maintains professional growth and development through attendance at continuing education sessions within the Laboratory, and seminars, workshops, conferences, or professional meetings outside the hospital.\r\n10. Understands the overall system and workflow of the Cytology Laboratory and can assist with problem-solving when necessary. \r\n11. Complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies, established hospital and department policies and objectives\r\n12. Performs other similar or related duties as required or as directed.\r\n\r\nMinimum Qualifications : \r\n1. Must have a bachelors Degree with successful completion from an accredited cytotechnology program. \r\n2. Must be qualified and meet all requirements according to CLIA `88 FINAL RULES\r\n3. Up-to-date knowledge of the field of cytotechnology. Must have recent cytology work experience and attendance at continuing education seminars and workshops.\r\n4. Extended periods of visual acuity and mental concentration in a small room to interpret cellular changes and render accurate diagnoses of patient samples.\r\n\r\n\r\nCOVID Vaccines Booster required at time of submission (declinations not accepted).\r\nFlu vaccine required for new staff starting 9 / 2. Current staff will need to be vaccinated by 12 / 1.
