Position Description

The Retail Banking Market Manager is responsible for leading a dynamic team of financial services professionals to deliver excellent member experience. They serve as the head of the retail banking branch network, responsible for coaching the branch management team towards achieving expectations and developing each individual Member Relationship Advisor within their branch network. At Signal, the overall member experience is our top priority, and it is expected that this role will act as a primary driver in setting, coaching, and holding accountable those expectations to ensure our member's success.

The priorities of this position include directing the retail banking team towards success in consumer and business development, sales, community outreach, community events, risk management, and operational excellence for our members. The Market Manager will also play an integral role in supporting the initiatives of the overall credit union, which includes the creation of successful and collaborative partnerships with various departments; including but not limited to, Risk Management, Operations Support, IT, Marketing, Lending, Investment Services, and the like.

This position requires consistent, in-person coaching and travel to and from the retail branch network of Signal Financial. Travel can vary based on schedule and staffing, but at minimum it is expected that all branches are visited at least 4 times per month with active observations and coaching sessions occurring on each visit. Additionally, it is expected that this role would serve as a subject matter expert for our member and employee facing technology to coach team members towards success in this space. Technology includes our core banking system, new account wizard, online banking features, and more.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead retail banking routines necessary to acquire, retain, and deepen member relationships. Routines to include daily huddles, daily activity reviews, pre-appointment plans, daily conversation observations, weekly employee 1 on 1's, outbound calling efforts, new member onboarding, relationship product reviews, and cross-selling Signal's products and services to existing members.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert with the core banking system and various applications to ensure the front line is operating our technology efficiently for the success of our membership.
  • Maintain communications with main office; prepare and submit standard reports; attend scheduled management meetings.
  • Monitor all branch activities to ensure they are in compliance with established credit union policies and procedures.
  • Participate in local organizations, marketing Signal's brand, value proposition, and commitment to the local community.
  • Facilitate financial education seminars at the branch and throughout the local community.
  • Partner with the appropriate lines of business to ensure success in items such as Risk Management, Operations Support, IT, Marketing, Lending, Investment Services, and the like.

Position Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of similar or related experience, with proven leadership, coaching management level employees, consumer and business development, sales production and management, community development, client relationship management, and risk / operational skills are required
  • Prior experience in a banking or financial services company required. Credit union experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understanding the various business entities, and Credit Union banking products and processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal engagement, leadership, and presentation skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy in dealing with both members and employees required.
  • Work involves motivating or influencing others.
  • Fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and / or individuals).
  • Proven track record of success with business development and community outreach
  • Strong accuracy and detail orientation skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Prior experience with FiServ DNA preferred.
