Storm Duty Requirements
Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response / recovery activities related to emergencies / disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

Dir Business Development

The Dir Business Development leads the strategic development efforts to include customer identification, relationship management, financial and operational analysis, and understanding of economic data to inform strategic development opportunities. Serves as the lead point of contact working with potential large load customers (e.g., Data Centers) and external regional parties (e.g., Municipal utilities, IOUs, Commercial partners) to develop and implement business activities for originating, expanding and optimizing the Tampa Electric growth strategy. Responsibilities include identifying and developing large load customer leads, opportunities for Other Operating Revenues, collaborations and / or partnerships with other utilities or business prospects outside the traditional service territory. Responsibilities also include integration of development opportunities into the strategic planning and capital allocation cycles and improving effectiveness of strategic commercial development.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility for primary point of contact and business relationships with potential large-load customers and internal coordination. Coordinate internal activities for planning, forecasting and communicating our ability to serve customers including generation capacity queue management, pricing structures, contract management and essential functions to deliver service. Reporting on the status of customer leads.
Develop and maintain relationships with municipal electric providers, investor-owned utilities and other prospective commercial development partners. Evaluate opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, or M&A.
Identify opportunities for growth in developing markets or adjacent revenue streams (e.g., Other Operating Revenues), develop the business concept, gain executive support, and lead the effort to develop customer relationships, business plans, financial analyses, and internal support to necessary to achieve. Monitor market developments, public policy, incentives that promote adjacent growth opportunities. Activate the plan and work with others to drive implementation.
Lead cross-functional teams of subject matter experts to fully analyze commercial opportunities and business structures for strategic fit, risk / reward, regulatory implications and financial outcomes gaining internal approval and driving execution.
Provide regular updates to executive and board-level leadership on strategic development opportunities and play a key role in developing messaging for annual Strategic Update to the board.
Qualifications
Education
Required : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or other related field. Preferred : Master's degree in Finance, Business, or Economics.
Experience
Required : 10 years of Strategy, Business Development, Energy Markets and / or Finance in the energy sector. Experience communicating, influencing and driving decision making at the executive and board-levels of leadership. Preferred : Experience working with Municipal and IOU electric providers in Florida. Experience with energy product valuations and structuring.
Supervisory Experience
Required : 5 years of strong leadership experience
