Summary :
Join our team as a Phlebotomist, where you will play a vital role in patient care by performing essential duties related to specimen collection, receiving, and referrals.
Responsibilities :

 - Maintain compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety, and privacy / security of health information standards.
 - Keep the collection tray / container / bag and work area clean and well-stocked.
 - Collaborate with the team lead to procure necessary department supplies.
 - Perform various duties including specimen collection, receiving, and sending out samples.
 - Prepare and manage specimens for external lab referrals, including testing orders and packaging.
 - Conduct all patient specimen collections, such as venipuncture and capillary collections, with attention to specimen requirements and integrity.
 - Communicate effectively with customers, patients, and healthcare teams.
 - Utilize the laboratory computer system for documenting specimen information and completing assigned tasks.
 - Engage in other related duties such as standby / on-call, inventory management, special projects, and cross-training.
 - Participate in performance evaluations and annual competency assessments.
 
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus.Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program is preferred.Familiarity with medical terminology and strong organizational skills.Experience
Preferred one year of phlebotomy experience.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Preferred certifications include Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Tech (PBT); Louisiana state licensure preferred.Please note that in accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the necessary certifications for their roles within the designated timeframe.
