Senior Trade Compliance Specialist Career Opportunity
The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist is a member of the Foreign Trade Department working closely with the Manager to complete compliance objectives across all U.S. and international locations to support the company's business operations. Independently manages all day-to-day work while contributing to higher level projects as assigned by the Manager.
Senior Trade Compliance Specialist Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the departments daily responsibilities are completed and addressed in a timely manner.
- Disseminate guidance and direction on trade compliance requirements.
- Determine jurisdiction and export classification of products, technical data, and services.
- Engage in inquiries to identify and reconcile trade compliance issues.
- Maintain expert level knowledge of U.S. trade laws and regulations.
- Generate U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of State applications.
- Assist in the development and implementation of foreign trade related processes, programs, and resources.
- Direct audits of trade compliance processes and requirements.
- Serve as interface and external spokesperson on trade compliance related matters.
- Assist in the development and presentation of trade compliance training.
- Assist in training new trade compliance personnel.
- Other items as assigned by the Director and Manager of Foreign Trade.
Senior Trade Compliance Specialist Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Due to U.S. export control laws, must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or have protected status.Possesses knowledge of U.S. trade laws and regulations. Specifically, an expert level of knowledge and understanding of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).Must have a technical background - i.e., understanding manufacturing processes, technical drawings, materials, electronics and units of measure.Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.Capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively with corporate and business personnel.Senior Trade Compliance Specialist Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering or related field preferred; and at least 5 years of experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Previous experience in aerospace related industries is strongly preferred.Senior Trade Compliance Specialist Preferred Skills
Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
