Job description

Financial Analyst Position

Position Summary : Primary responsibility will be to analyze financial statements, prepare credit presentations, and maintenance of the financial analysis database. This position will receive minimal supervision in the performance of duties and responsibilities; therefore needs to be a self-starter & motivator. Work is evaluated based on accuracy, timeliness, and results.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate new loan applications to insure proper completion and submission of required financial information.
  • Spread and analyze financial statements to complete the financial credit analysis; complete required cash flows, debt ratios, debt service coverage.
  • Obtain credit reports.
  • Advise loan officers of additional information or documents that may be required.
  • Based on loan information review, the Analyst will recommend approval or denial of loan packages.
  • Prepare credit presentations in accordance with the Member Business Loan Policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Create and maintain financial statement files and tracking in accordance with the Member Business Loan Policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Coordinate periodic requests for financial statement information as determined by loan officers.
  • Maintain and prepare reports and correspondence; develop and monitor information data bases.
  • Manage and assist loan officers with allowance for loss reports.
  • Provide quality service to members (internal staff & credit union members) and be responsible for accurate, efficient preparation and facilitation of loan packages and transactions for all types of agriculture, commercial, member business accounts within strict time constraints.
  • Accurately input loan data to applicable systems to control the flow and timeliness of applications and assure all requirements are met.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations along with knowledge of our products and procedures.
  • File documentation and updated information to keep files current as well as maintain supporting schedules.
  • Maintain a pending file for lien perfections.
  • Input expiration dates and follow-up monthly on ones that are missing.
  • Verify VINs.
  • Recommend which covenants are needed based on file analysis.
  • Perform financial analysis on companies doing ACH payroll transactions through WCCU.
  • Work with the Operations Department on findings.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Work Relationships and Scope : Reports directly to the Business Lending Administration Manager. Will have regular contact with employees of the Lending Department.

Possess the ability to attend to numerous details with frequent interruptions under the stress of maintaining courteous, effective, and timely relations with a variety of individuals and personalities. Possess ability to gain the trust and respect of members, management, and employees. Also maintains a positive, professional, team-oriented working relationship with staff and outside vendors. Enhance job growth through continuing education, as required or necessary.

Other Experience and Qualifications : Education / Experience : Knowledge of laws and regulations governing business lending practices desired. Minimum of two years of experience in financial statement analysis. Skills and Abilities : Excellent communication skills and proven effectiveness in working with management, loan originators, and loan applicants. Also work in a courteous, respectful and efficient manner with all coworkers. Ability to safeguard all confidential financial and personal information. Ability to work with a wide range of personalities in a courteous, effective, and efficient manner. Knowledge and ability to apply current financial service industry standards, laws, and regulations. Ability to present ideas, report facts and other information clearly and concisely. Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficient operation of a variety of general office equipment such as a computer, software applications, typewriter, calculator, telephone, copy machine, fax machine and other similar devices or programs related to the position.
