What You'll Do
As a UPMC Paramedic, you'll be a vital part of our emergency response team, delivering high-quality care in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. Your responsibilities will include :
Administering basic and advanced life support in diverse settings
Communicating with Medical Command and healthcare teams
Performing emergency diagnostics and treatments
Educating student paramedics and engaging in community outreach
Maintaining equipment and vehicles for readiness
Documenting patient care and ensuring confidentiality
Promoting safety and wellness for patients and team members

Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 1 year of experience in EMS (Advanced Life Support level) is preferred
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different base sites as needed
Must be eligible for Medical Command authorization from the Medical Director
Completion of UPMC's orientation program, including classroom training
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment
Certified Paramedic in Pennsylvania
Valid Driver's License
Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD)
EMSVO Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification
Clearances (Required with Renewal) :
Act 31 - Child Abuse Reporting
Act 33 - PA Child Abuse History Clearance
Act 34 - PA Criminal Background Check
Act 73 - FBI Fingerprint Clearance
