Location : Leonardtown, Maryland 20650 (Southern Maryland healthcare jobs)
Facility Setting : Acute Hospital Operating Room (OR)
Job Type : Travel Sterile Processing Technician Contract
Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : January 5, 2026 – End : April 6, 2026)
Shift : Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (12 : 00 PM – 8 : 30 PM)
Weekly Hours : 40
Estimated Weekly Salary : $1030-$1100
Weekend, Call, and Holiday Requirements : None
Patient Age Groups : Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Daily Surgical Cases : 23 cases across 7 operating rooms
Sterile Processing Technician Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Sterile Processing Tech in an acute hospital OR setting
Expertise in aseptic technique, decontamination, sterilization, and surgical tray assembly
Active Maryland or compact state Sterile Processing Technician license required at time of submission
Certification in Sterile Processing (CBSPD or CRCST) preferred
Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Two supervisor references required
First-time travel healthcare professionals welcome
Sterile Processing Tech Responsibilities
Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
Assemble and organize instrument trays for multiple surgical specialties (Orthopedics, OB / GYN, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Robotics, and more)
Perform biological and chemical indicator testing to ensure sterilization standards
Label and select appropriate wrapping materials for sterilization processes
Operate washers, sterilizers, and ultrasonic cleaning equipment
Maintain accurate documentation and equipment records
Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies
Participate in orientation and ongoing training modules as required
