SCOPE :

The Process Engineer provides support to Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, and Production staff through tasks and initiatives aligned with the Process Engineering discipline. This includes ensuring process accuracy, optimizing production workflows, and supporting cost and quality improvements.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Specific responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to :

1. Routing and BOM Management : Create and audit routings and bills of materials (BOMs) within the ERP system to ensure accuracy and completeness.

2. Process Documentation : Collaborate with Manufacturing, Project, and Product Engineering teams to maintain accurate documentation and implement effective production processes.

3. Cutting Pattern Optimization : Prepare and provide digitized and nested cutting patterns to Production and Automation Technicians to maximize material utilization and machine efficiency.

4. Cost Data Reporting : Compile and present job cost data from the ERP system in clear, actionable formats for Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Accounting teams.

5. Prototype Costing : Generate cost estimates for samples and prototypes to support Engineering and Sales initiatives.

6. Foam Process Improvement : Support and drive continuous improvement in foam manufacturing, including formula development, process optimization, tooling inventory, and tooling design enhancements.

7. Training and Mentorship : Train and mentor production staff and technicians on new processes, tools, and best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality operations.

8. Lean Manufacturing : Lead or contribute to Lean initiatives focused on waste reduction, process flow improvement, and increased efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a technical role within a manufacturing environment.

2. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.

3. Proficient in ERP systems, networked computers, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

4. Proficient with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software, AutoCAD or similar 2D tools, and 2D digitizing software.

5. Familiarity with basic programming concepts for automated machinery, including CNC and NC systems.

6. Highly detail-oriented and quality-focused, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

7. Skilled in applying project management techniques to track and deliver on concurrent initiatives.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

The Process Engineer at Gasser Chair is expected to perform job duties that involve a combination of office-based work and hands-on support in the manufacturing environment. The role requires the ability to move throughout the plant facilities, including standing, walking, and climbing for extended periods. The Process Engineer must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs when necessary and work in various environmental conditions, including noise, vibration, and temperature fluctuations. Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is required. Occasional travel may be necessary.
