Engineering Manager
The Engineering Manager leads the engineering department, ensuring products are developed, manufactured, and improved efficiently. This role involves managing a diverse team of engineers across various specialties, such as R&D, manufacturing, software, electrical, and mechanical engineering. The manager fosters an environment of teamwork and innovation, providing technical guidance and ensuring projects meet quality and budgetary goals while adhering to industry standards. Strategic planning, process improvements, and customer collaboration are also key aspects of this role.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and support a team of engineers from diverse backgrounds, encouraging collaboration and creative problem-solving.
- Train, mentor, and coach team members to enhance their professional development.
- Plan and oversee engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Coordinate all project phases from initial design to production launch and maintain organized project documentation.
- Provide expertise in electrical engineering, including system design and troubleshooting.
- Lead technical reviews of product designs, focusing on mechanical, electrical, controls, and structural aspects.
- Implement and utilize systems for continuous improvement, such as Lean development.
- Collaborate closely with other departments, including production, quality assurance, and R&D, to integrate engineering solutions.
- Communicate effectively with engineering teams across various company locations.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with industry standards, regulations, and company policies, and that new products meet all compliance requirements.
- Prepare and present regular updates on project progress and department performance to leaders.
- Participate in strategic planning and execution, driving innovation and identifying opportunities or risks related to new products.
- Analyze customer needs, create technical proposals, and set up processes for gathering and acting on customer feedback.
Essential Skills :
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field (master's preferred).At least 8 years of engineering experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.Experience managing design projects and supporting staff.Proven ability to drive innovation and identify intellectual property opportunities.Strong leadership and mentoring skills.Deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles.Skilled in project management and process improvement.Effective communicator and collaborator across teams.Familiarity with industry standards and compliance.Proficient in design software (Inventor, SolidWorks, CREO), ERM systems, and Microsoft Office.Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.Able to analyze customer needs and create technical solutions.Additional Skills & Qualifications :
Experience in mechanical engineering and operations is beneficial.Knowledge of electronics and electronic systems is advantageous.Work Environment :
This position is based onsite in Shakopee, offering a dynamic work environment within a team of 40 professionals supported by a global company. Pay and Benefits :
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $135000.00 / yr.
