The Mission Critical Construction Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring the implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs on high-risk, technically complex construction projects such as data centers, laboratories, or other mission critical facilities. This role collaborates with project leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel to proactively manage and mitigate safety risks, enforce compliance with all applicable safety regulations, and promote a culture of safety excellence on site.

Key Responsibilities

Implement and enforce site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs aligned with OSHA, company policies, and client requirements.
Conduct regular job site safety audits and inspections; identify hazards, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Provide safety orientation and training to all project personnel, including subcontractors and new hires.
Assist in developing and reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and safe work plans for critical tasks.
Monitor high-risk construction activities such as electrical installations, live commissioning, crane lifts, confined space entry, and hot work operations.
Participate in incident investigations; lead root cause analysis and help implement preventative measures.
Collaborate with engineering, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure safety is integrated into all phases of construction and turnover.
Support the preparation and submission of safety documentation, including logs, reports, audits, and compliance filings.
Act as a liaison with client safety representatives and regulatory agencies.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive safety leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3 7+ years of construction safety experience, with at least 2 years on mission critical or similarly complex projects (e.g., data centers, hospitals, cleanrooms, semiconductor fabs).

In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety codes and industry best practices.

Certification(s) : OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, or equivalent required or strongly preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to assess risk, solve problems, and work in a fast-paced, high-stakes construction environment.

Proficient in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
