With limited supervision, the Test Lab Inspector Senior will support the lead test lab inspector in leading and giving direction to employees in assigned area engaged in setup and operation of various transformer tests. Help in Training employees in work instructions, skills, test procedures, methods and techniques to correctly and safely perform all job tasks. Performs direct work demonstrating the ability to perform any of the various operations within the test department.
Key responsibilities include :
- Perform all of the Test Lab Inspector duties and functions.
- Assist the lead test lab inspector with maintaining the workflow and ensure availability of proper methods and tools. Adjust workflow and assignments to meet test schedule deadlines as required.
- Develop test operation sequences and methods as needed.
- Train and assist in conducting training programs for Test Lab Inspectors with input from Test lab supervisor and Lead test lab inspector.
- Assure that test procedures are followed and executed and notify the Test lab supervisor and Lead test lab inspector of needed edits and / or report noncompliance.
- Support with on-the-job training to assure employees are properly trained prior to performing work or job; coordinate cross-training schedules to enhance employee knowledge while promoting safety and quality work environment.
- Confirm test protocols and quality criteria are properly executed, verified and documented during testing to ensure product meets customer's test specifications, tolerances, prints and other requirements. Identify and correct defects / errors appropriately.
- Complete and verify test documentation and ensure reporting and paperwork are completed according to defined procedures.
- Follow and comply with standard work procedures and sequence of operations to meet test standards for safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
- Practice 6S and comply with all safety rules, guidelines and safe working practices.
- Safely operate material handling and lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, motorized scissor lifts and work platforms. Safely and effectively move, handle and store materials.
Requirements for the position include :
Associates degree in technical field or vocational / trade school certification, plus five years' related work experience in test / manufacturing / maintenance environment, or equivalent education and experience.Advanced knowledge of testing policies, procedures and practices applicable to power transformer tests.Able to complete / train others on transformer testing including check-sheets, circuit set-up, test operation, evaluation of test results and records storage. Demonstrated experiences in training, mentoring, leading others in testing processes.Advanced mechanical / electrical / technical and troubleshooting skills.Experience reading manufacturing drawings / specifications, blueprints and testing specifications.Developed math and geometry skills.Advanced knowledge of applicable safety procedures and policies.Computer skills required, advanced knowledge of MS-Office package, Windows applications and test software.Knowledge and use of basic industrial measuring tools and electrical tools.Experience using various hand and power tools.Developed interpersonal skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.Physical and mental characteristics of the position include :
