Supplier Quality Engineer III

Position Summary :
The Supplier Quality Engineer mentors and provides guidance to fellow team members and evaluates suppliers based on their ability to supply product in accordance with Marvin Engineering, Marvin Land Systems and customer requirements. Supplier Quality is responsible for eliminating the impact of vendor caused defects to Marvin Engineering and production through rapid defect containment, resolution, and corrective action.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide guidance to Supply Chain and other internal functions in applying quality system requirements.
- Trains fellow SQEs, suppliers, and other Marvin Engineering personnel on specifications and requirements for suppliers.
- Generates supplier performance metrics and reports for management visibility.
- Generate weekly metrics to understand trends and performance of suppliers.
- Tracks and trends supplier performance via supplier scorecards, taking remedial action as needed.
- Issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) or Supplier Notifications (SN).
- Maintain SCAR process and ensure closed loop corrective action and proper root cause identification.
- Manage Approved Supplier List (ASL) per Marvin Engineering policy and procedures.
- Improve supplier quality performance via implementation of get-well plans, milestones, mentoring, etc.
- Attend daily Receiving Inspection huddles or shop floor huddles as requested.
- Prepare detailed trip reports to document site visits, audit findings and observations.
- Conduct supplier quality system audits / surveys when required or requested.
- Ensure counterfeit part avoidance and application of the Government / Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alert system with suppliers.
- Communicate quality issues to suppliers as needed and help develop corrective actions.
- Assess new supplier capabilities through technical discussion and quality system assessments.
- Conduct supplier site visits to deliver scorecards, provide RCCA training, assist with SCAR process, etc.
- Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce and ultimately eliminate impacts from vendor defects.
Skills and Requirements :
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred.8+ years of experience, preferably in the aerospace and defense industry.Deep understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings.Advance knowledge of industry specifications and standards (e.g., AS9100, ANSI, ASME).Advance knowledge of government and regulatory requirements.Advance knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes.Proficient in the use of MS Office; with emphasis on Excel manipulation of data and metrics.Must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated.Work in a team environment and must have good communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with Quality Engineering tools (e.g., Cause Map, FMEA).Working knowledge of inspection methods preferred.Strong technical writing and presentation skills preferred.Lean and / or Green Belt certification preferred.CSQP or CQE certification preferred.Must be able to lift 35 lbs.Familiarity with SAP preferred.Work Environment :
Fast paced office environment.Exposed to a variety of office and manufacturing environments.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Salary Range :
Base Salary Range (Inglewood only) : $100,000 to $130,000
Salary is based on skills, experience, and education
Travel Requirements :
This position will require approximately 50% - 75% travel.
