The Diesel Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing repair on heavy equipment for the plant to operate effectively and economically as possible while being consistent with plant policies, practices and procedures. The person in this position will constantly drive to minimize overall maintenance costs. This teammate will need the ability to work in a team setting or independently on projects that will ensure the department reaches its goals.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Knows, understands, and follows all Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
- Inspects heavy equipment for proper functioning and diagnoses equipment malfunctions
- Uses test equipment and diagnostic equipment to perform troubleshooting
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all heavy equipment
- Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to operating or repair manuals, and schematics using hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic, electric tools (outdoor / indoor conditions)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Be able to prepare detailed repair orders on completed maintenance assignments and parts used
- Input information in maintenance tracking system
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED5 years of experience with repairing and providing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment (5K-36K Forklifts, Manlifts, Skidsteers, Water Trucks, Sweeper Trucks, Vacuum Trucks, Hydro Blasters, Welding Machines, Pressure Washer, etc.)Basic computer skillsMust be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise, & dust), lift 50 LBS. Pre-employment physical is requiredMust have or be able to obtain a TWIC-card
