About the Role

The Company is seeking an Interim Executive Director for its Center for Journalism & Democracy. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership for all center staff, operationalize the vision of the Founding Director, and ensure the center's programs are in line with its mission to support historically informed investigative reporting. This role involves strategic oversight, budget management, and supervision of staff to meet the center's goals. The Interim Executive Director will also be responsible for fostering a team culture, developing strategic partnerships, and serving as the center's spokesperson in various activities.

Applicants must have at least 10 years' of experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record in managing high-profile projects, fundraising, and building partnerships. A background in journalism or investigative reporting is preferred. The role requires a high level of competency in budget management, and the ability to work with diverse populations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students and HBCUs, and the ability to ensure the center's work is in line with the Founding Director's vision. A Master's, JD, LLM, Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree is required, along with a strong commitment to the values of the company and the mission of the center.
