Role Description
This is a part-time remote role for an Academic Advisor located in California. The Academic Advisor will be responsible for student counseling, communication, career counseling, academic advising, and education support to help students achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mandatory Administrative Tasks (Tied to Hours Booked) :
- Complete academic approvals in the system promptly.
- Submit key academic documents (e.g., course schedules / registration, study plan, FERPA, AIPs) in the system and transcripts to the designated email inbox.
- Maintain up-to-date notes in the system that reflect student progress.
- Submit monthly Tier notes for each student with sufficient detail.
- Submit ad hoc reports upon request.
2. Compliance and Warning Requests :
Proactively flag issues to the client before escalation.Submit formal warning requests when students demonstrate non-compliance (e.g., attendance issues, GPA concerns, improper course selection, lack of required documents, exceeding online course limits).3. Academic Counseling :
Conduct monthly 1 : 1 academic counseling sessions with all students.At semester start, support students with orientation to academic systems, semester planning, and using campus resources.Provide ongoing support for course registration, academic deadlines, plagiarism avoidance, and academic integrity.Monitor ESL student progress and readiness for academic coursework.Advise students transitioning from college to university or between majors.Ensure students maintain full-time enrollment, visa status, and academic standing.Monitor student course loads, credit requirements, deadlines, and academic integrity.Track credit accumulation and identify milestone achievements (e.g., ESL completion, prerequisite courses).Develop personalized plans for struggling students.Submit Academic Improvement Plans (AIPs) for underperforming students.Map and regularly review each student’s academic pathway, ensuring alignment with program completion timelines.Notify the client of any delays, changes in majors, transfers, or significant academic adjustments.Assist with student transfers and regularly check in with the student throughout the admissions process to address concerns or questions.Guide the student to use college resources such as transfer centers, counseling offices, and academic workshops for support.Develop and manage a calendar of key deadlines for application submissions to ensure students stay on track.Requirements
