Director, Business Intelligence
1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director, Business Intelligence to lead enterprise-wide analytics, reporting, and data management initiatives across our family of brands. This leader will help shape the future of our BI environment by driving scalable reporting solutions, improving data accessibility, and empowering teams with actionable insights.
In this high-impact role, you will bridge the gap between our BI technology stack and business users—ensuring strong platform performance, effective enablement, and enterprise adoption of BI solutions. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, oversee BI operations, and champion a data-driven culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Develop the BI Team
- Manage and mentor a small team of BI professionals.
- Foster growth, continuous learning, and innovative problem-solving.
Strategic Partnership
Work with senior leadership to plan, prioritize, and deliver Business Intelligence initiatives aligned with strategic objectives.Support enterprise reporting needs across multiple brands.Vendor Relationship Management
Serve as the primary liaison for BI vendors.Lead tool implementation efforts, enablement sessions, and platform improvements.BI Advocacy & Enablement
Act as an on-site BI champion, driving user adoption and satisfaction.Promote self-service analytics and help stakeholders maximize BI platform capabilities.Platform Administration
Oversee BI system performance, infrastructure health, configuration, and troubleshooting.Maintain platform reliability, scalability, and availability.Governance & Best Practices
Define and enforce standards, conventions, and frameworks for BI development.Support reporting consistency, data quality, and scalable data practices.Training & Engagement
Develop and deliver BI training programs, workshops, and documentation.Cultivate a culture of data literacy and insight-driven decision making.Technical Guidance
Provide recommendations for SQL optimization, efficient data access, and BI development best practices.Support teams with technical documentation and sample code.Security & Access Control
Define and oversee BI access and security controls to ensure data integrity and compliance.Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).Leadership Experience
Proven experience leading BI or analytics teams.Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale BI or reporting solutions.Technical Expertise
Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases.Hands-on experience with data warehouse platforms (Snowflake preferred).Working knowledge of Unix / Linux .Familiarity with BI tools such as Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker .Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Unix shell, Python, or R).Understanding of networking fundamentals related to BI performance.Experience with enterprise job scheduling tools (preferred but not required).Soft Skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills.Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.Customer-centric mindset with a passion for enabling teams through data.Preferred Attributes
Experience supporting enterprise BI platforms (Sigma, Power BI Service, Tableau Server, etc.).Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata practices.Ability to influence at all levels and promote a self-service analytics culture.Interest in emerging BI and data technologies..The expected salary range for this position is $160,000 -$180,000. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
