About The Position
Medix is seeking an experienced and skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasound Technologist) for an exciting long-term travel contract. As an Allied Health clinician, you will work with our client, a reputable healthcare facility, to provide essential diagnostic imaging services to their patients starting ASAP. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring accurate and timely diagnoses.
The ideal candidate is a highly adaptable and compassionate professional with a strong background in multiple sonography specialties, particularly Breast and Vascular imaging. This position is based in an outpatient setting, and the work schedule is Monday-Friday with flexible shift / hours, averaging approximately 35 hours per week for about 22 weeks.

Pay : Competitive compensation package, including hourly rate and per diem stipends. Full details of the pay structure will be thoroughly discussed with a Medix recruiter.
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
Perform Sonographic Procedures : Independently perform a wide range of sonographic examinations on adult and pediatric patients, including :
Breast (Primary need and preferred experience), v ascular (Bonus if well-versed), abdominal, soft tissue, gynecological, renal, thyroid, scrotal, and musculoskeletal exams
Interventional Procedures : Set up and assist with procedures such as sonographic core biopsies, Fine Needle Aspirations (FNAs), and hysterosonograms / saline-infused sonograms.
Patient Care : Greet patients in a professional manner, offer detailed explanations of diagnostic procedures, answer questions, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the exam.
Image Quality & Analysis : Position patients and select appropriate equipment settings to obtain the best-case imaging according to accepted standards and institutional protocols. Judge the diagnostic quality of finished images prior to submission for radiologist interpretation.
Collaboration : Review all imaging requests for appropriateness, escalating questionable orders to the radiologist and referring physician as needed. Observe patients for any change in status, intervening or contacting primary caregivers for instructions as appropriate. Present images and preliminary observations to physicians and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Equipment Management : Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment on a daily basis. Maintain logbooks, schedule PM (Preventive Maintenance), perform QA (Quality Assurance), and ensure the overall condition of the treatment room is clean and safe.
Administrative Duties
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times, adhering to all HIPAA requirements.
Perform all clerical responsibilities related to the acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
Keep current on all organizational, practice, and patient privacy policies, including infection control, and maintain technical competency through continued education.

Job Requirements
NYS License : Active New York State (NYS) Radiologic Technology / Sonography license.
Certification : Active ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification.
Certification in Abdomen and / or OB / GYN is required.
The successful candidate will be required to acquire additional registries ( Vascular and Breast ) within a specified timeline. Experience in these specialties, particularly breast, is highly preferred.
Experience : A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
BLS : Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
