Description of Work
Position provides direct supervision to social workers in the Adult Intervention Team who manages programs and services for the senior citizens and disabled adult population. Social Worker responsibilities include : 1) investigating reports of elderly abuse and neglect 2) adult protective services case management 3) monitor and assess rest homes and family care homes for quality care and state regulatory compliance 4) Guardianship, Special Assistance and In-home Aid to delay the most restricted environment 5) personnel administration for Personal Care Aids 6) manage and evaluate a comprehensive aging and caregiver support system of care 7) managing program specific contracts 8) community initiatives supporting senior citizens and disabled adult population 9) research grants for support of services. Supervisory responsibilities include : coordination of work flow, case assignment, implementing training needs aligning with position competencies, coaching for quality work performance, manage team performance, ensuring programs compliance through quality reviews of cases, State and community involvement, manage fiscal oversight of In-home Aid program and grant awards. Other leadership responsibilities include : participating in the selection process of staff, monthly employee conferences, annual performance appraisals, management of employee disciplinary process, team staff meetings, attending local and State meetings. Make presentations to Management Team and DSS Board.
Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with staff, agency leadership, state and community partners. Effective oral / written communication and organizational skills are essential. Must have a valid driver's license and dependable transportation. Must possess and be able to demonstrate intermediate computer skills.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supplemental Information
PREFERENCES : Strong preference for candidates with a social work degree (BSW or MSW). Prefer applicants with experience in a department of social services, experience in services to disabled adults and senior citizens, and supervisory experience, especially in a local department of social services.
