Farm Manager
A growing agricultural operation in Eastern NY is seeking a Farm Manager to oversee daily operations across both row crops and vegetable production. The ideal candidate is experienced and knowledgeable in both conventional and organic production systems. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership position and values efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement in farm operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee all aspects of crop production : planting, cultivation, irrigation, and harvest for both row crops and vegetables.
- Lead, train, and supervise a diverse team of employees, providing clear communication in both Spanish and English.
- Develop and implement crop rotation and fertility management plans that align with both conventional and organic production standards.
- Coordinate with agronomists, input suppliers, and equipment operators to optimize yields and maintain soil health.
- Ensure compliance with organic certification and conventional production standards, maintaining proper documentation and audit readiness.
- Manage equipment use and maintenance schedules to ensure peak efficiency during planting and harvest seasons.
- Monitor budgets, inventory, and input use to control costs and meet production goals.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment while fostering teamwork and professional growth among employees.
Qualifications :
5+ years of farm management or production leadership experience in row crops and / or vegetables.Bilingual (Eng / Spanish)Knowledge of organic certification requirements and conventional crop practices.Strong understanding of irrigation systems, equipment operation, and maintenance.Proven leadership skills with experience training and managing crews.Excellent organizational and communication abilities.CDL or pesticide applicator license a plus.Please submit your resume to be considered.
