The Crisis Center of Comal County is seeking a Grant Accountant to join our Finance team and help ensure our programs continue to thrive through careful, strategic management of our grants and financial resources.

As our Grant Accountant, your work will directly support this mission by ensuring that critical programs have the financial resources and compliance oversight they need to serve survivors effectively.
Why This Role Matters
You will work closely with the Director of Finance to oversee grants from start to finish , ensuring funds are tracked accurately, budgets are aligned, and compliance requirements are met. Your work will directly enable programs that transform lives, helping survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and homelessness access the support they need.
What You’ll Do
Grant & Fund Management
Oversee financial administration of grants, ensuring accurate allocation, tracking, and reporting.
Develop processes for monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds with precision and integrity.
Collaborate with program managers to ensure grant spending aligns with funding agreements.
Prepare timely, accurate reports for funders and grantors.
Finance & Accounting Support
Maintain financial and accounting system controls to support the Director of Finance, CEO, Board, and grantors.
Cross-train and back up the Director of Finance for daily financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable / receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Assist with monthly close activities, journal entries, and variance analysis.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
Collaborate with the Director of Finance to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
Analyze grant data to inform strategic decisions and improve processes.
Participate in planning initiatives that drive the organization forward.
Other Duties
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the organization.
What We’re Looking For
Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and grant compliance.
Experience managing restricted / unrestricted funds, government grants, and donor-restricted contributions.
Proven ability to analyze financial data, prepare budgets, and provide strategic financial guidance.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Team-oriented mindset and commitment to our mission and values.
Education & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Significant experience in nonprofit financial management, accounting, or grant administration.
Physical Requirements
Office-based role with limited travel.
Frequent sitting, standing, and computer use.
Occasional lifting of files or office equipment (up to 30 pounds).
Limited travel as needed.
