Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Dialysis RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Charleston, South Carolina. Required Qualifications :
- One year of recent experience as a Dialysis RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA / ARC) certification
Preferred Qualifications :
ACLS certifications (AHA / ARC)Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN), Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN)Other certifications and licenses may be required for this positionSummary :
Dialysis RNs specialize in caring for patients with acute or chronic kidney failure who are undergoing hemodialysis treatment. They monitor patients' vital signs, operate and maintain dialysis equipment, administer medications, and educate patients on kidney disease management. They collaborate with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care that is tailored to each patient’s needs.
Essential Work Functions :
Assess and monitor patients' vital signs before, during, and after dialysis treatment to ensure stability and safetyOversee the dialysis treatment from start to finish, including cannulating accesses, securing blood work, and documenting findingsAdminister prescribed medications accurately, following physician orders and documenting appropriatelyAssure proper maintenance of equipment and provision of adequate suppliesAdhere to infection control protocols when cleaning and dressing permanent and temporary catheters to prevent complicationsDocument patient conditions, dialysis treatments, and care interventions accurately and in compliance with regulatory standardsRespond promptly to emergencies during dialysis, such as hypotension or cardiac events, to ensure patient safetyEducate patients and their families about kidney disease, hemodialysis, medication management, and lifestyle adjustments to support long-term healthParticipate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and safety of dialysis careStay informed on advancements in nephrology and dialysis technology to incorporate best practices into patient carePerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills :
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read / comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical / Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push / pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and / or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
