JOB TITLE : Part-Time Floating Library Assistant, Grade 20
LOCATION : Headquarters (System-wide)

SALARY : $1,334 per month (Includes some benefits)
HOURS : 20 hours per week
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 4 : 00pm-8 : 15pm; and every other Saturday 9 : 30am-5 : 15pm and Sunday 12 : 30pm-5 : 15pm
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with some supervisory or leadership experience. Must complete pre-employment testing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Travel to all library locations as assigned to substitute for staff absences.Assist with all circulation duties, including library card registration, patron account services, and collection maintenance.Provide patron assistance related to information and reader’s advisory questions, material retrieval, computer navigation, digital devices, and other library equipment.Work with various software and library automation programs.Handle special department projects as assigned.Communicate ideas, concerns, and solutions to the supervisor affecting staff, workflow, patron services, circulation policies, and procedures.Stay current with library events, the SCPL Intranet, calendar, and meeting room reservations.Provide excellent customer service when assisting patrons of all ages at all locations.Handle opening and closing procedures at all branches, including cash register and deposit tasks.Oversee the department or branch in the absence of the supervisor, managing staff and patron inquiries.Maintain awareness of security and safety concerns and take appropriate action as needed.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with some supervisory or leadership experience.Knowledge of public library procedures, practices, and equipment.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, demonstrating a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, humor, and the ability to interact with diverse backgrounds and age groups.Strong technological skills and ability to work with various devices, software, and audio-visual equipment.Creative, flexible, organized, with good time management and attention to detail.Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.Strong work ethic, initiative, and leadership skills to direct coworkers.Valid driver’s license; may require using a personal vehicle for travel.The library accepts applications with cover letter and resume when a position is available.
