Position Description :

POSITION SUMMARY

The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Specialist creates plumbing and / or mechanical system 3D models to ensure best adherence to established project specifications, code requirements and QuesTec standards. Additionally, he / she strives to exploit the strengths of QuesTec s pre-fabrication processes, assisting in controlling internal costs through materials and labor optimization.

Primary Duties

• Generates construction and fabrication models / drawings for a variety of small and large complex commercial and industrial mechanical system projects
• Reviews models / drawings for apparent conflicts with architectural and / or structural contract requirements to ensure compliance with local, state and federal codes
• Reviews equipment documents from Project Management for accuracy and completeness
• Performs site surveys and field measurement work as needed to support the conceptual and design drawings
• Works closely with Project Managers to obtain clarity and resolution through the RFI process
• Provides complete, detailed drawings to Pre-fab for parts manufacture, and to the job site for use in construction of and installation of material and equipment
• Promotes collaboration among PMs, Foremen and fellow BIM Designers
• Accepts guidance and exhibits a willingness to communicate positively with Estimators, Project Managers, Foremen, and Field Superintendent
• Available and willing to work overtime, as needed
