SUMMARY
This position contributes to the success of the Williamsburg facility by assisting the Manager of Maintenance and Facilities with planning, directing and coordinating work activities and resources necessary for the day-to-day maintenance operations to ensure the plant's equipment and machinery operate efficiently. Incumbent will also troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, assist with preventative maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Equipment Maintenance and Reliability
Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all food processing and packaging equipment.
Ensure minimal equipment downtime and quick response to breakdowns.
Maintain detailed maintenance logs and equipment histories.
2. Compliance and Food Safety
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF).
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of tools, parts, and maintenance areas to avoid contamination.
Support quality assurance audits and ensure documentation is ready and accurate.
3. Staff Supervision and Training
Supervise, schedule, and coordinate maintenance technicians and contractors.
Train team members on safe and efficient maintenance procedures.
Conduct performance evaluations and coach for improvement.
4. Inventory and Spare Parts Management
Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and critical components.
Ensure proper storage and labeling to prevent cross-contamination.
Track usage and costs, and order supplies as needed.
5. Planning and Documentation
Develop and manage the preventive maintenance program using MVP.
Generate reports on maintenance KPIs such as downtime, MTTR, and maintenance costs.
Plan and coordinate shutdowns, upgrades, or installations with minimal impact on production.
6. Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Enforce safety policies and conduct routine inspections of equipment and work areas.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other local / regional safety and environmental regulations.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
7. Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance equipment performance and reduce costs.
Collaborate with operations to optimize equipment design and layout.
Stay current with industry trends, technology, and maintenance best practices.
