Job description

USA Firmware – Sr. Electrical Engineer (1099 Contract, Hybrid – Concord, OH)

USA Firmware is partnering with a client on an exciting new project and is looking for a Sr. Electrical Engineer to join the team on a contract basis. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of complex electrical system design and development while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The role requires a hybrid schedule with at least 2 days / week onsite in Concord, OH.

What You’ll Do :

  • Lead design and development of electrical control systems for innovative equipment.
  • Create and debug schematics and PCB layouts (Altium preferred).
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Unitronics, Panasonic, Advantech, Beckhoff) and HMIs.
  • Develop and test firmware for microcontrollers (C / C++), including communication protocols.
  • Validate prototypes, perform testing, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (UL, CSA, NFPA, CE).
  • Document designs, testing, and support materials.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in control and electrical engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, PLCs, and electrical CAD tools (Draftsight, Eplan).
  • Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with UL / CSA / NFPA / CE standards is a plus.
