Physician - Anesthesiologist

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Duties

This is an Open Continuous Announcement and will remain open until the position is filled. Eligible applications will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as‑needed basis until positions are filled. Once a selection is made and an offer is accepted the announcement may close pending no additional vacancies.

Pay

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluating patients’ vital signs, medical histories, allergies, current medication use, and other risk factors.
• Working with a medical team to design a patient’s treatment plan.
• Overseeing administration of anesthesia to patients before procedures by other medical staff.
• Monitoring vital signs of the patient during surgery and adjusting anesthetics as needed.
• Maintaining detailed notes on patient treatment, dosing, and vital signs.
• Providing continuing care after surgery to control the level of pain relief and consciousness.
• Communicating continuing care instructions to specialists, nurses, and other medical staff.
• Providing a variety of services to include pre‑operative exams and intra‑operative care utilizing MAC.
• Post‑operative care including ventilator management within recovery area and ICU.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7 : 30 am – 4 : 00 pm with rotating weekends and on‑call responsibilities.
