Job Summary

An Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing business support applications and for extracting information for business managers and end-users. The individual in this role will provide subject-matter expertise to the business, act as a liaison between the business and IT service providers and assist the project teams oriented around expanded use of the applications.

Manage the day-to-day operations and support of assigned business application; analyze, enhance, design, and implement information systems in collaboration with business unit personnel and in alignment with site and corporate direction and roadmaps.

Monitor business system processes, applications, and data issues; perform root-cause analyses; document known problems for business solutions team and functional business unit resolution; and update support documentation for business systems.

Collaborate with business and IT to identify areas of enhancements to pursue and implementation of application changes.

Contribute to projects and resolution of issues related to changes in systems; communicate status of issues resolutions; and assist with providing documentation of resolutions required to implement the technology, processes, and skills changes.

Perform system administration, support and maintenance for assigned business applications; document requirements, specification, and business processes for system change controls.

Provide subject-matter expertise and reports to assist business leaders as needed.

Perform all other related duties as assigned. Administer project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, and quality-control provisions.

Provide monthly updates of expenditures to department management.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

Education / Experience : Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science or related discipline with 5 or more years of relevant experience required; or master's degree in computer science with one year of relevant experience; contract research organization experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of assigned functional systems and processes; in-depth knowledge of current IT technologies, including application programming, database and systems design.

Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for business system improvements, coordinate several major tasks, and manage projects.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well in a team- based environment.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.

Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.

Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and / or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.

Ability to work under specific time constraints.
