Overview
POSITION SUMMARY : Develop Continual Improvement and Capacity Improvement Projects including new equipment specification, procurement and installation, process quality, productivity and other projects targeting improved quality, cost and delivery. Ensure processes, work instructions, tooling and equipment, and continual improvement processes are in place and available to manufacturing supervisors and technicians prior to beginning work to effectively improve quality, cost and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Plan, track, update, and report on process, Kaizen, and continual improvement projects to ensure design schedules, build schedules, installation schedules, acceptance, and commissioning schedules are met.
- Plan, support, coordinate, and implement capital and Kaizen projects in the manufacturing areas.
- Monitor and provide engineering support to ensure customer products are manufactured and processes are operating economically and in control per management goals and quality expectations. Analyze deviations, develop and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare supporting documentation such as layouts, conceptualization, justification, and quotations for labor, standard tooling, specialty tooling, and equipment to support the business unit requirements.
- Develop equipment and tooling justifications, quotation requests, acceptance criteria, and purchasing documentation. Review quotations, support vendor selections, and ensure tooling and equipment received meets acceptance criteria, quality expectations, and is installed and commissioned per schedule.
- Manufacturing prototypes as required utilizing the principals of concurrent engineering.
- Develop, gain approval for, and implement capability improvement projects involving process control, equipment, capacity and productivity targeting quality, cost and delivery performance.
- Write work instructions and assist in training of work instructions.
- Develop specifications for new equipment, TPM requirements, and operating work instructions.
- Perform, monitor, and audit tooling and equipment. Monitor, audit, and track TPM documentation and performance.
- Support equipment installation and moves, process description, and operational / performance qualification activities for manufacturing equipment and manufacturing processes. Generate all related documentation in compliance with internal requirements.
- Assist production supervisors in trouble-shooting process and quality problems. Perform root cause analysis, develop and implement countermeasures based on PDCA process.
- Analyze plant layout and process flows to propose, justify, and implement improvements for improved manufacturing flow.
- Assess and measure labor content to set process standards and evaluate variances.
- Assist business areas in the creation of time-based Standard Work for all task and activity.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop technical solutions to manufacturing problems, finding solutions that are thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
- Apply statistical tools to complex problems and teach statistical tools to others as required.
- Play a leadership role in the Plant Safety Program.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of Hyosung HICO.

Bachelor's degree with concentration in manufacturing / tooling or related field required and 1 - 2 years' experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products, or equivalent education and experience.Developed knowledge of and skill with using statistical tools such as design of experiments (DOE), Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma and / or Statistical Process Control (SPC).Knowledge of CAD software or other engineering design and graphics software.Basic knowledge of and participation in the use of Continuous Improvement processes including Kaizen, VSM, SMED, PDCA.Knowledge and skills in the creation of Preventive Maintenance documentation.Advanced logical and critical thinking skills including the ability to develop, analyze and draw conclusions to problems.Developed verbal and written communications skills.Working knowledge of computer and other systems, emphasizing MS Office products, PLC's and equipment control systems.Advanced knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems, SAP preferred.Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work with vendors, customers, and employees.Must excel at working in a team environment with a customer service driven mentality.Ability to use office equipment, such as : PC, photocopier, etc.Ability to communicate with others to complete work assignments.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.Ability to analyze data and develop accompanying reports.Ability to maintain relationships with diverse groups.Ability to communicate with others to complete work assignments.Hyosung HICO, Ltd., is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Employer.
