Responsible for greeting patients and families upon arriving to the Radiology department and directing them to the appropriate area. Verifies patients exam order and checks patient into the Radiology system. Answers phones, maintains communication with all Radiology department staff, and resolves issues that may arise. Uploads / digitizes outside images for comparisons and prints CDs upon request.

Job Specific Duties

• Digitizes outside films into PACS. Ensures appropriate prior films and reports are available for comparison with present study. Imports all external films into fax system.
• Creates an optimum patient and family experience. Proactively communicates any delays to the family in a timely and compassionate manner. Works to increase SEI scores.
• Complies with governmental prescription requirements relative to receiving acceptable hospital services (i.e. stat readings or review positive readings).
• Requests prescriptions and / or referrals for exam upon patient arrival to the Radiology department and verifies order is signed by a physician.
• Floats, covers, and provides assistance to department; optimizes patient flow.
• Ensures films are read by the radiologist in a timely manner following the conclusion of the procedure.
• Works collaboratively with nursing to ensure patient flow is maximized to meet service standards. Performs service recovery when applicable to maximize patient and family satisfaction.
• Handles all stat calls and problem solves as needed. Ensures radiologist and physician communication is expedited.
• Rotates through all patient waiting areas to gain greater knowledge of all modalities.
• Acts as the control point for all incoming phone calls. Works to resolve incoming requests, issues with doctors offices, and coordinates the delivery of results to outside offices.
• Utilizes LEAN methodology to improve the family experience. Actively involved in continuously improving the patient experience and service recovery process.
