Job Summary

As a vital emergency response medical professional, you will provide immediate medical care for victims of accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses, such as cardiac arrests or strokes. You will deliver advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is transferred to an accepting medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at public functions and events, providing standby services when necessary.
• Document full assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Provide care to patients facing psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises, delivering both medical and therapeutic services.
• Work collaboratively as part of a two-member ambulance crew, responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate essential equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms in advanced life support situations.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to establish and prioritize medical interventions such as stabilization, immobilization, and moving victims safely from the scene.
• Respond to dispatcher instructions, driving specially equipped emergency vehicles to designated locations at safe speeds.
• Administer medications under a physician's guidance through injections, intravenous procedures, or oral administration.
• Communicate effectively with medical personnel at treating facilities to obtain necessary instructions regarding patient care.
• Clean and decontaminate the ambulance after each patient transport or treatment, reporting any infectious diseases to the relevant authorities.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry up to 80 lbs short distances. Responsibilities include frequent standing or walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
