Overview

The Lead Property Accountant is responsible for managing and supporting a team of junior and staff accountants in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements for assigned properties and associations. This position serves as the direct supervisor for junior accountants and ensures that all financial deliverables meet organizational standards of quality and compliance.

This role requires a proactive, service-oriented professional who collaborates effectively across departments and provides outstanding support to internal teams, property managers, and external stakeholders such as association boards and treasurers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Oversight

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of property accountants to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reporting.
• Review and approve financial statements prior to distribution, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
• Promote a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.
• Provide guidance and solutions for escalated accounting issues in partnership with the Director of Financial Reporting.
• Assist in implementing new software tools, process improvements, and departmental initiatives that enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
