Job description

DIRECTOR OF NURSES - HOME INFUSION

Position Summary :

  • The Infusion Nursing Supervisor assumes full responsibility for the clinical oversight of the home health agency and infusion nursing program, including review of patient notes, patient visits, and coordination with pharmacies. They may also coordinate and perform infusion nursing care for patients in the home setting, participate in teaching patients and caregivers home medical management, and provide leadership by working cooperatively with the pharmacy to establish priorities and goals of patient care.

Education / Experience :

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
  • CRNI and IgCN desirable.
  • OCN preferred but not required.
  • Current state license as Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing for each state providing services.
  • Continuing education necessary to maintain current licensure in each state where licensed.
  • Ability to multi-task, excellent customer service skills, and excellent computer and typing skills necessary for company workflow and completion of daily tasks.
  • Minimum of two years of current nursing experience in a clinical specialty involving infusion therapy, including patient assessment skills, various venous access skills, and management of infusion related reactions.
  • Minimum of one year previous specialized home health experience desired, bilingual preferred.
  • Experience as a Home Infusion Nursing Supervisor, or as a Director of Nurses or Alternate Director of Nurses in infusion nursing is preferred.

  • Appropriate immunizations current and TB screening (as required by policy).
  • Hepatitis B vaccine or signed waiver.
  • Baseline and every 2 year health assessment as required by Kansas statute
  • Other State and Federal required health tests allowable by law.
  • JOB DESCRIPTION KEY INDICATORS

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Abides by company policies and procedures as well as INS Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice, IgNS Standards of Practice, Oncology Nursing Society, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Provides infusion and other skilled nursing care to patients including, but not limited to patient assessments, patient / caregiver teaching, development and revision of the plan of care, implementation of physician orders, monitoring patient response, response to emergency patient needs and psychosocial support.
  • Provides pre-discharge patient assessments in the hospital or clinic setting, when requested.
  • Completes all required patient care documentation and reports accurately.
  • Submits all required patient care documentation and reports promptly.
  • Communicate any changes in the patient's condition to pharmacy, physicians, and other appropriate health care providers.
  • Takes on-call responsibility as assigned to provide 24-hour availability and provides these services following established protocols.
  • Serves as a resource for pharmacy personnel to advise on nursing matters.
  • Takes professional responsibility for self-protection during required work in potentially hazardous situations (e.g., handling of blood and body fluids, perception of and removes self from threatening environments).
  • Represents self professionally and ethically at all times
  • Spearheads gathering information to contribute to the quality program, in conjunction with Elevate Infusion LLC policies and all regulatory statutes.
  • Supervises the monitoring of lab results on all applicable patients and ensures lab results are communicated to pharmacy staff and uploaded to patient's EMR.
  • Provides scheduling assignment for all Infusion Nursing Staff assigned and maintains the on-call schedule log ensuring that all patients are assigned accordingly.
  • Ensures that visit notes are completed by all nursing staff in a timely fashion and maintains accountability for schedule integrity.
  • Maintains professional licensure, certification, and health requirements as well as demonstrating clinical competence in orientation programs and other designated functions.
  • Manages and participates in the orientation of other nurses, validation of competency, and supervisory visits.
  • Supports the organization by arranging and / or providing educational programs or visits to referral sources.
  • Serves as the primary representative of the nursing division for Elevate Infusion, including participation in employee interviews, job fairs, and conferences as requested.
  • Assists in effective communication between the patient and the company, including documentation of suggestions, complaints, and requests.
  • Ensures an alternate manager is available for coverage during their absence.
  • Assumes responsibility for audit of all nursing licenses and CEUs for all nursing staff to maintain current licensure, and State required modules for ADON to maintain regulatory status.
  • Assists in effective communication between the patient and the company, as well as the referral source as needed.
  • Provides patient education on specific therapies and supplies, including nursing and home delivery information.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Promotes Elevate Infusion LLC culture by providing quality, comprehensive services to all customers through a team approach.
  • CONTINUING EDUCATION

  • Completes continuing education necessary to maintain status as Infusion Nursing Supervisor and maintains current licensure in all states as appropriate.
  • Completes continuing education and training as assigned by supervisor.
  • TECHNICAL

  • Ability to learn and become competent with technology and partner programs where applicable (i.e. google workspace, external EMRs, and other programs utilized).
  • Ability to learn and become competent with third-party referral platforms as needed to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
