Job Summary

The Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) is a collaborative partnership of U-M community members that serve in an advisory capacity to the U-M President to assist in improving policies and practices for addressing campus sexual misconduct. With membership representing students, faculty and staff and other key stakeholders from all three U‑M campuses, the CCRT is charged with assessing, planning, and making recommendations to enhance campus prevention and response efforts.

The mission of the CCRT is to identify the needs of the University of Michigan community with respect to addressing sexual misconduct; to facilitate communication and understanding of campus policies and practices across campus units and community partners; to research and explore best practices in sexual misconduct prevention and intervention; to identify opportunities for improving the University’s efforts to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct; and to develop and communicate recommendations to the University President.

CCRT is looking for a highly skilled communicator to join our team. You will collaborate with team members, subject matter experts, and university communications professionals to develop and deliver proactive, strategic communications plans for CCRT. Depending on the needs of the CCRT, the position may be eligible to transition from part‑time to full‑time at a later date.

Responsibilities

Writes and maintains communications content for various delivery methods. Coordinates and develops communications for large projects, multiple projects and projects with high visibility. Identifies appropriate delivery methods, including presentations, targeted email, printed documents, newspaper articles, and web pages. Designs, develops and implements communications, based on organizational and user needs. Evaluates feedback on communications and makes improvements.

Communications Strategy and Management - 60%

Design and implement a comprehensive communication strategic plan for the Coordinated Community Response Team’s initiatives and accomplishments.

Collaborate with university stakeholders to ensure clear and consistent messaging across all communications channels.

Collaborate with existing units across all three campuses to develop and place positive stories about U‑M’s sexual misconduct prevention and response in appropriate outlets targeting both internal and external audiences.

Coordinate with Prevention, Education, Assistance & Resources (PEAR) and Sexual Assault Prevention & Awareness Center (SAPAC), the Well‑Being Collective, the Spectrum Center, and other units doing this work on each campus tasked with prevention and education efforts for faculty, staff, and students to create a core set of messages about prevention and resources.

Collaborate to create, review, and distribute informational materials, press releases, reports, and presentations to engage the U‑M community and external audiences.

Ensure that all communications align with the University’s commitment to a safe and inclusive community.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building - 20%

Build and maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to facilitate open communication and collaboration.

Organize and support events, meetings, and forums to promote engagement and dialogue among campus and community partners.

Serve as the primary point of contact for communication inquiries related to the CCRT.

Improve coordination across all U‑M units engaged in prevention and response, including Prevention, Education, Assistance & Resources (PEAR), Sexual Assault Prevention & Awareness Center (SAPAC), Well‑Being Collective, Spectrum Center, ECRT, DPSS, etc. to ensure consistent messaging.

Data and Evaluation - 10%

Utilize feedback and analytics to assess communication effectiveness and inform future strategies.

Other Responsibilities - 10%

Stay informed on trends and best practices related to sexual misconduct prevention and response, and adjust communication strategies accordingly.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

At least three years experience in a related role developing communication and marketing strategies to meet measurable goals, preferably in a higher education setting.

Experience working in the area of communication, marketing, PR in a higher education setting.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies for continuous improvement.

Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand communications.

Experience working with leadership to develop and refine communications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to handle sensitive topics with professionalism, discretion, and a trauma-informed approach.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
