The City of Monroe (NC) is offering a full-time position with a salary range of $50,149.00 - $90,688.00 annually. The job is based in Monroe, NC, within the Police Department.

The role involves performing responsible protective service work with a variety of general or support duty police assignments. This includes patrolling the town, responding to service requests, enforcing laws and ordinances, making arrests, testifying in court, and preparing records and files. The job requires physical exertion, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting, and involves exposure to various environmental conditions.

The essential functions also include operating a patrol vehicle or walking to observe for violations, responding to radio dispatches, issuing citations, serving warrants, and making arrests. The role also involves testifying in court, providing police escorts, directing traffic, and performing residential and commercial checks.

Knowledge of police methods, practices, and procedures is required, along with the ability to understand and carry out instructions and prepare reports. Skills in the use of firearms and operation of motor vehicles are essential. The position requires a high school diploma and possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina, BLET certification, and meeting all minimum state and local training and education requirements.
