\n\nPCU Registered Nurse Job Details\n \n

  • Location : Winston Salem, North Carolina 27103\n
  • Unit : 8th West Tower Pulmonary, Progressive Care Unit (PCU)\n
  • Position : Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU\n
  • Contract Length : 13 weeks\n
  • Estimated Weekly Pay : $1660 - $1700\n
  • Shift : 12 Hour Nights (18 : 45 - 07 : 15)\n
  • Hours per Week : 36\n
  • Unit Size : 48 beds\n
  • Orientation : 24 hours\n
  • Scrub Colors : White or navy blue\n
  • Block scheduling available when unit needs are met\n

    • \n\nRegistered Nurse Qualifications\n \n

  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, step-down, or acute care RN experience required\n
  • First-time travel nurses welcome\n
  • Active North Carolina or Compact State Registered Nurse license (must be in hand at start)\n
  • Certifications : ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred\n
  • Proficient in IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, CPAP / BiPAP, and dysrhythmia interpretation / management\n
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start\n
  • Experience with Epic electronic charting system preferred\n
  • Ability to float to similar healthcare units within the facility as needed\n
  • Weekend Requirement : 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks (may require more based on staffing needs)\n
  • Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions accepted)\n

    • \n\nPCU Nurse Responsibilities\n \n

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary and cardiac conditions, including COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and pulmonary embolism\n
  • Manage patients on ventilators, tracheostomies, chest tubes, CPAP / BiPAP, and cardiac drips (Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin)\n
  • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring\n
  • Initiate and maintain IVs, administer medications, and follow isolation precautions\n
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapists, vascular access, behavioral health, and rapid response / code teams\n
  • Float to similar nursing units as needed based on census and skill set\n
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems\n
  • Demonstrate teamwork and uphold professional behavioral standards in all interactions\n
