Master Level Social Worker

POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES

Join our dedicated team as a Master Level Social Worker, where you will utilize your clinical expertise in mental health counseling and crisis intervention to provide crucial support to individuals in an adult detention center. Your role will involve :

• Screening and identifying inmates who are mentally ill, struggling with substance use, or at risk for suicide, followed by making appropriate referrals for further assessment.
• Collaborating as a key member of a multidisciplinary team to deliver evaluation, treatment planning, and service coordination.
• Counseling and assisting patients in overcoming personal and environmental challenges that may exacerbate their conditions or impede their access to necessary medical care.
• Actively supporting and adhering to the policies and procedures of the University Health.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

A Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education accredited institution is required. While not mandatory, one year of post-master's degree experience in a healthcare setting will enhance your candidacy.

LICENSURE

To qualify, you must possess current state licensure from the Texas State Board of Social Workers Examiners and hold a current CPR certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider. Preference will be given to candidates who are certified as a Correctional Health Care Professional where eligible.
