Director Of Surgical Services | Northern Virginia Region
A leading 230-bed acute care hospital in Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to oversee perioperative operations for 18 operating rooms, 2 endoscopy suites, and more than 12,000 surgical procedures annually. Service lines include robotics, spine, neuro, ortho, general, oncology, urology, and cardiovascularwith an open-heart program launching in early 2026.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic perioperative leader to set strategy, drive performance, and lead a team of 100+ FTEs in a nationally recognized surgical program.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all perioperative areas
- Oversee OR management, sterile processing, endoscopy, and robotics programs
- Develop and implement evidence-based policies to ensure high-quality patient care
- Manage financial performance, budgets, and capital planning for Surgical Services
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth
- Partner with physicians and executives to advance surgical service line performance
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
- Lead performance improvement and patient experience initiatives
- Mentor and develop managers and clinical leaders for future succession planning
Qualifications
Required :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)Active RN license (Virginia or Compact state)Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in surgical servicesPreferred :
Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare AdministrationCNOR or CSSM certificationProven success leading high-volume, multi-service perioperative departmentsCompensation & Benefits
