Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant will utilize their expertise to make a significant impact in both clinical and administrative roles. In this position, they will perform various tasks, ranging from assisting with patient care and advanced procedures under the direction of a licensed Independent Provider (LIP) to ensuring smooth office operations. As a certified professional, the Medical Assistant's skills will enable them to perform clinical and administrative duties with high competence, contributing to superior patient care and clinic efficiency.
Essential Job Functions

Clinical Duties :
Assist in preparing patients for examinations and procedures by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and providing reassurance.
Perform blood draws (venipunctures or capillary punctures), administer injections and vaccines, and assist with minor procedures as ordered by the LIP.
Follow proper procedures for labeling, handling, and transporting specimens to ensure accuracy and avoid contamination.
Provide basic first aid and assist with medical emergencies as per Basic Life Support (BLS) standards.
Provide age-appropriate care and understanding for patients from newborns to elderly individuals.
Measure and record vital signs, growth parameters, and assist pediatricians during exams and routine procedures.
Administrative Duties :
Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient records by entering data, filing documents, and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Manage general office tasks, including answering phones, organizing medical supplies, and maintaining inventory.
Provide timely responses to telephone encounters and patient inquiries.
Schedule patient appointments, confirm and verify patient details, and assist with urgent care patient follow-up calls.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee should have the ability to handle a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and deal with the emotional and physical needs of patients. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and gowns as necessary to protect against healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
Environmental Conditions
Inside : The employee is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The work environment is typically a Medical office, clinic, or healthcare facility. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
