Position : Data Center Operations & Linux Systems Administrator

Location : NYC, NY (hybrid)

Summary

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Operations & Linux Systems Administrator to support, maintain, and optimize server infrastructure and data center environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Linux systems, server hardware, and data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage server hardware installation, cabling, labeling, and maintenance.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Support virtualization (VMware, KVM, Proxmox) and assist in capacity planning.
  • Monitor infrastructure health using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or Dynatrace.
  • Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible scripting.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and network (L1 L3) issues in collaboration with network teams.
  • Apply system patches, firmware updates, and ensure security compliance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation (rack diagrams, asset records, SOPs).
  • Participate in incident response, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data center operations and Linux administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux internals and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with networking (TCP / IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
  • Scripting proficiency (Bash or Python).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Dynatrace, etc.).
  • Ability to lift ~25 30 kg and work in controlled data center environments.
  • Strong communication, autonomy, and analytical skills.
  • English required; French optional.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Flexible for maintenance windows, on-call duty, and rotating weekend shifts.
  • Travel : 1 2 times per month to Secaucus (typically Saturdays).
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM, Proxmox).
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Knowledge of GIT workflows, CI / CD pipelines, and ITIL / ticketing tools (JIRA).
